Accountant

Job Purpose

General Ledger functions focusing on reconciliation and general ledger support.

Essential Responsibilities

• Monthly reconciliation of receivables, payables & other accounts as required.
• Monthly journal entry preparation.
• Investment recording and reconciliation.
• Yearly audit schedule preparation.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.

• By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.

Associated Duties

• Cross training to backup other areas in department.
• General audit preparation support. May require some summer overtime.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two or more years prior accounting or bookkeeping experience, fund accounting a plus. Preference given to any additional education in accounting or related field.
• Detail oriented and accurate. Good working knowledge of Excel.  PeopleSoft experience a plus.
• Good teamwork skills, initiative and dependability.
• Integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
• An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
