Accounts Payable Supervisor

Purpose for the Position: 

To manage accounts payable, administer employee reimbursement systems in Concur and US Bank VISA.  Assist with developing, implementing and maintaining travel policies & procedures.  Assist with completing liability account reconciliations on a routine basis. Liaison with IT for AP related issues, maintain & assist with on-line banking controls and related relationships for the university.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable functions and two A/P specialists, including overseeing all the related software and processes, and interface with Purchasing. This also includes a part time student, and occasional part time help as needed.
• Administrator for both Concur and US Bank employee VISA credit cards. Enforce all GFU policies regarding use.Work with the finance general ledger team and other university departments to complete timely reconciliations of liability and Concur/VISA clearing accounts.
• Work with I.T. dept. on issues related to A/P software and hardware.
• Maintain bank on-line controls and related bank interfacing as it relates to AP.
• Manage annual 1099 process, budget transfers, GL analysis, plant fund reconciliations, etc.
• Assist with Financial management for various grants.
• Assist with day to day A/P operations as needed.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
•  By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.

Associated Duties: 

• Annual audit preparation and closing involvement and assistance.
• Maintain good working knowledge of the university's accounting software, especially as it relates to A/P.
• Maintain working knowledge of other Acct II, Acct I & Asst VP for Finance daily duties for backup purposes.
• Document and maintain written A/P policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; supervision experience preferred.
• Three years of related experience.
• Bachelor's degree; degree in business, finance, accounting or related field preferred.
• High level of computer proficiency, including experience with accounting software, Excel spreadsheets, etc.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
• An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Statement of Community Responsibilities.
