Clinical Coordinator

Summary

Under general supervision, provides support for the Director and Clinical Education by ensuring that all student clinical records are maintained and documented for accreditation and facilitating communication between preceptors, clinical sites, and students.

 

Essential Duties

Essential Functions

  • Works with Director of Clinical Education (DCE) to accomplish the program mission
  • Assists  Program Chair, Director, and DCE in the organization, administration, continuous and periodic review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the clinical phase of the program
  • Develops clinical rotation sites adequate for students' clinically supervised training under the guidance and approval of the DCE, Program Chair, Program Director, and Medical Director
  • Regularly visits clinic rotation sites to ensure adequacy of the site for clinical training
  • Provides guidance, training, and ongoing communication as needed for clinical preceptors
  • Assists in the preparation of administrative reports as requested and assigned by DCE and Program Chair, including oversight of clinical database, background checks, health requirement documentation
  • Is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all clinical rotations, mid-term,  and end-of-rotation assessments
  • Reviews for completeness and compliance of assessments of students by preceptors
  • Reviews student reports of clinical sites
  • With the DCE; reviews, maintains, coordinates and issues the Student Clinical Guidebook annually
  • With the DCE; provides for ongoing clinical preceptor development
  • Schedules  student remediation as needed
  • With the DCE; is responsible for the development, administration, and reporting of mid-term, end-of-course and all other clinical assessments
  • Provides security for all course and examination materials
  • Maintains and coordinates the clinical rotation schedule
  • Provides ongoing assessment and review of active clinical sites each semester
  • Coordinates clinical course activity and schedules with the DCE
  • Develops, revises, updates and maintains instruments for student and faculty course evaluations
  • Assists in other duties as assigned by the DCE and Program Chair and Director
  • Attends all scheduled staff and faculty meetings
  • Contributes to administrative duties of the department as directed
  • Assists  Program Chair, Program Director, and Medical Director in the organization, administration, continuous and periodic review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the Community Clinic course series
  • Advises the DCE and Program Chair of any problems related to student behavior, clinical performance, or professionalism
  • Member of appropriate departmental committees as assigned by Program Chair

 

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree desired but not mandary.
  • History of administrative professional experience.
  • Experience in higher education or hospital administration.
  • Above average knowledge of office procedures and secretarial skills.
  • Computer knowledge or word processing applications, internet and intranet use, spreadsheets, and database management essential. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and typing skills. 
  • Must be a self-starter, have ability to handle multiple priorities, and have a close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be courteous, people-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be available for occasional evenings and weekends.
