Job Description

George Fox University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track, physical therapist for its community physical therapy clinic. The applicant must be a licensed physical or be eligible for licensure in the state of Oregon. The ideal candidate has experience in corporate wellness, nutrition, biometry, and anthropometry such as Duel-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Additionally, the candidate possesses experience lecturing in the corporate wellness arena, community outreach programs, and academia regarding the benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle and topics such as basic nutrition, diet, and cooking.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations an test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans.
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills. 
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy. 
  • Participate in the development of individualized learning objectives for clinical education.
  • Bill, schedule, and supervise clinic workers. Obtain insurance Pre authorizations and payment information.
  • Teach Community Back Class, Nutrition, and Chronic pain courses.
  • Direct student residency programs with students and alumni.
  • Provide instruction, supervision, and counsel to students.
  • Participate in the identification and recruitment of qualified applicants for enrollment into the DPT program.
  • Participate in the life of the university community, and other duties as assigned by the Director of the DPT program.
  • Participate in clinical related activities.

Academic Responsibilities

  • Assist students with their doctoral research projects.

Scholarly Responsibilities

  • Be instrumental in using professional publications, professional presentations and other scholarly outlets to establish and maintain regional and national recognition.
  • Support and/or be involved in ongoing research that will improve clinical training within the program as well as within the profession.
  • Identify sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants.

Position Requirements

  • Earned DPT degree (or equivalent) in physical therapy. 
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Oregon.  
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills. 
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy. 
  • Design and conduct independent and/or collaborative research in clinical education or related areas.        
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.         

Accountability

This faculty position reports directly to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director/Chairperson.
