Customer Support Specialist

Purpose of the Position:

As a Customer Support Specialist you'll combine an eager desire to help people with strong technical aptitude to provide first level support to employees and students across the university. You'll work to ensure that employees can effectively use the tools needed to do their work and that our students have access to the resources necessary to be active learners.

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  1. Build and maintain user trust through excellence in customer service
  2. Provide first level contact and advocate for quick resolutions to customer issues
  3. Ensure customer issues are directed to appropriate resources
  4. Work with customers to develop independent problem solving processes
  5. Follow up with customers to ensure needs are met and issues resolved
  6. Proactively engage customers to anticipate future needs
  7. Create documentation for internal and external use
  8. Provide training to customers individually and collectively
  9. Recommend internal procedure and technical changes based on customer feedback
  10. Learn something new every day
  11. Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  12. By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.

 

Associated Duties:

  1. Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:  

  1. Exceptional listening and problem solving skills
  2. A strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly
  3. Comfort communicating with customers via multiple channels including telephone, in-person and various electronic mail and messaging applications
  4. Demonstrated ability to switch quickly between tasks and handle interruptions gracefully
  5. Ability to explain complex and technical concepts in plain language
  6. Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
  7. An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same
