Job Purpose:

University Advancement seeks a collaborative, mission-driven and results-oriented alumni relations professional to serve as the Director of Alumni Relations. Purpose for the Position: Under the direction of the Vice President for Advancement, this position is responsible for the management and strategic planning of Alumni Relations for George Fox University. A successful Director of Alumni Relations will develop engagement opportunities, manage programs/volunteers, support fundraising efforts and develop communications that enhance and support the University's mission.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop an alumni relations strategy including segmentation and metrics
  • Manage University affinity groups including developing strategy, budget management, measures of success and recruitment/stewardship of group members.
  • Coordinate engaging, university-wide alumni events including, but not limited to, homecoming and reunion events
  • Coordinate volunteers to support the work of University Advancement
  • Manage the Alumni Board and serve as a liaison to other campus alumni groups
  • Manage a portfolio of relationships
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support various alumni groups
  • Coordinate with Marketing Communications office on communication strategy (social media, newsletters, mailings, etc.)
  • Ability to use data to drive strategy and inform decision making
  • Highly organized with an attention to detail
  • Develop appropriate stewardship and recognition programs for volunteers
  • Management of alumni benefits and services
  • Provide exceptional customer service and responsiveness to requests from constituents
  • Self-starter

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of alumni relations, donor engagement and volunteer management preferably in a higher education setting
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience working with volunteers, managing projects and developing organizational goals; preferably working with groups and building relationships
  • Experience planning and executing events that purposefully support organizational mission
  • Experience bringing groups together to build consensus and strategic planning
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in written form
  • Proven ability to cultivate and ask volunteers to give their time, talent and treasure
  • Available and willing to work evenings and weekends to support events and meetings, as well as travel when appropriate
  • By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to university constituents, colleagues and students, whether through casual contact or in a formal role.
  • Maintain an evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with the GFU Statement of Faith and Statement of Community Responsibilities.
