Head Baseball Coach

POSITION OVERVIEW:
George Fox University is seeking a proven winner who is prepared and excited to lead one of its
marquee sports to maintain its status as a conference powerhouse. In addition to a sustained
and consistent level of coaching success, the ideal candidate for head coach will be a person of
integrity, a spiritual leader and a source of inspiration to student athletes, fans and alumni.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain and build a culture of competitive excellence in Bruin Baseball that will lead to
conference, regional and national honors.
2. Recruit and retain talented, high caliber student athletes who perform on the field and in
the classroom as well as contribute to the mission of the university.
3. Organize and administer practice and game strategies, schedule games, manage
program budget, organize travel arrangements.
4. Set a high academic standard within the program and manage student athlete academic
success, teaching good study habits and running study tables as needed.
5. Adhere to the stated philosophy and established guidelines set forth by George Fox
University, the Northwest Conference and the NCAA Division III.
6. Supervise a staff of six assistant coaches
7. Coordinate alumni outreach efforts.
8. Organize community service and campus outreach strategies.
9. Lead fundraising efforts to enhance the student athlete experience.
10. Develop and run successful youth camps.
11. Other duties as assigned in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. A strong Evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle as described in our website.
Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence a mature Christian
faith, be in agreement with the University's statement of faith, be committed to the
integration of Biblical principles in instruction and be willing to invest themselves in the
development of staff and students.
2. Ten years of college coaching and recruiting experience required.
3. Master's degree in teaching, coaching, management or administration required.
4. Head coaching experience required at the club or summer level.
5. Advancement/fundraiser experience required.
6. Management/supervisory experience required.
7. Extensive knowledge of baseball required, including strong familiarity with NCAA rules
and guidelines.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
