Housing and Residence Life Operations Manager

Job Purpose

Housing and Residence Life Operations Manager (HRLOM) might be a good fit for you.


The HRLOM directly impacts the retention of undergraduate students through providing systems
leadership and exceptional customer care. This role is front-facing with a high level of student,
parent and interdepartmental communication. It includes information coordination, policy
development and procedure crafting.


As our in-house expert at database and internal systems the HRLOM leads our process initiatives.
They build system design, audit database reporting and monitor the application processes. Though
this position is very technical and detail oriented it also relies heavily on intuition and the ability to
navigate relational situations.

Essential Job Functions:


Student Services and Customer Communication

  • Interdepartmental Communication- directs communication in regards to inventories, fines,
    system checks, website, forms and accountability data with various departments. This
    includes providing timely responses to system-wide or buildingspecific needs,
    emergencies, crisis situations, or other situations requiring departmental intervention.
  • First Line of Contact- leads communication to walk-ins, housing and reslife email inboxes
    and phone calls. Through each interaction delivering the "Be Known promise" with
    professional and compassionate communication.
  • Risk Management and System Security- Responding to students/families to help mitigate
    concerns. Coordinating security for all system users to ensure that everyone can access
    what is needed on a student record while maintaining privacies.


Systems Development

  • Systems Leadership- detailed understanding of the database processes, buildout of database
    and applications, ongoing work streamlining and documenting processes. Maintains
    industry standard knowledge of enterprise systems that run housing, conduct and meal
    plans.
  • Information Technology- support when students are not able to access information needed
    through an understanding of program coding with SQL (this will be trained and is not
    expected of applicants applying). This includes the ability to edit systems to make the
    student portal and correspondence work accordingly. They also build new functions as
    needed in portal configuration.
  • Housing and Meal Plan logistics- placement logistics, key inventories and distribution, meal
    plan communication and assessment, graduate housing communication and room change
    process.
  • Data Management- data input and auditing, monitoring the data going into our systems as
    well as the data going out to other departments (security, students accounts, plant services).
    An understanding of joining tables and report management to pull relevant data out of our
    system for different continuance. This includes directly running inventories, fines, system
    checks, and reports for department projections.


Project Coordination

  • ResLife and Housing Coordination- delivers administrative support to the Associate Dean of
    Students through coordinating student and professional staff communication and handling
    residence life documentation. Overseeing administrative aspects of student staff selection
    through application management, interview scheduling, and processing all hiring
    documentation. This includes over 100 students leaders and the logistics with professional
    staff.
  • Housing Coordination- collaborates with the Director of University Housing on staff
    communication, scheduling and project management.
  • Supervising Student Employees- supervises student staff and their workload and leads
    development and supervision of some of the student interns.


Other Responsibilities and Duties

  • Participates as a member of the university community by serving on various committees.
  • Attends conferences and embraces continued learning opportunities


Qualifications/Requirements:
