Interim Assistant Men's & Women's Cross Country and Distance Coach George Fox University announces an Assistant Men's & Women's Cross Country and Distance Coach position in athletics to begin July 1, 2018. Job Description: The Assistant Men's & Women's Cross Country and Distance Coach will assist in coordinating all aspects of George Fox University Men's and Women's Cross Country and Distance activities including coaching, recruiting, organizing and planning both practice and competition strategies, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, fundraising, team management and administration. Essential responsibilities to assist the Director of Men's & Women's Track and Field and Cross Country include, but are not limited to: This position shall have a strong working knowledge and understanding of all NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance and recruiting issues and conduct program within stated philosophy and established guidelines set forth by George Fox University, NCAA Division III and the Northwest Conference. Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes within defined departmental strategies acceptable to standard George Fox University entrance requirements and within departmental resources designed specifically to promote timely graduation and effective use of athletic eligibility. Scheduling and conducting regular practice and training sessions during traditional and non-traditional segments of the year. Support a positive student-athlete experience, which is reflected by both high retention and graduation rates among recruited student-athletes. Assist in monitoring and supporting student-athlete academic progress. Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service. By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role. Demonstrates awareness, respect and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Men's & Women's Track and Field and Cross Country, Athletic Director, or Associate Athletic Director based on the selected applicant's skill-sets and/or needs of the Athletic Department. Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated Cross Country and Distance Coaching experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal abilities, including encouragement and motivational skills. Ability to recruit student-athletes, develop successful programs and maintain operations (budget, equipment ordering, NCAA eligibility, game management, etc.) is required. Possession of a valid Driver's license. Must have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violation. Preferred Qualifications: Have cross country coaching experience at the intercollegiate level. Possess a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university. Exhibit prior experience with student athlete recruitment or the evidence of potential for success in recruitment. Demonstrate evidence of ability to work well with college-age student athletes and proven ability to perform administrative aspects of the program. Have knowledge of NCAA Division III rules. Certified in First Aid, AED, and CPR currently. Collegiate student athlete.
