Job description:

 

The Parry Lab at George Fox University requires a lead research technician to supervise field-based research activities in the summer of 2019. The crew lead will be responsible for supervising and training a crew of three student research technicians during a six-week field season on a long-term research project investigating forest recruitment as an indicator of climate-induced range shifts in Pacific Northwest forests. All field work will take place in the forests of the Oregon Coast Range and Cascades Range between May 20, 2019 and June 28, 2019.

 

The lead research technician will be responsible for leading data collection on forest recruitment and forest structure across six long-term forest research plots. Specific lead technician responsibilities include supervision and training of student research technicians, transporting the field crew to sampling locations, maintaining safety awareness and practices, maintaining regular communication with the Principle Investigator, coordinating field logistics (meals, lodging, daily work schedule), maintaining field equipment, and conducting and overseeing all field sampling efforts. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full time, Temporary position, Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
  • Expertise working with diverse students and employees
