Porter

Job Purpose

We are seeking an energetic and reliable Porter to perform day-to-day building maintenance at our University. Overall duties will include removing debris, maintaining common room areas, restocking bathrooms and responding to all cleaning emergencies. This position requires frequent night and weekend shifts and the schedule will vary from week to week depending on events scheduled at the University.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, dedicated, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously. You will work with Plant Services and Event Services to execute an effective schedule, which will include your day-to-day routines and work timetable and the following responsibilities. (2 open positions)

Essential Responsibilities

• Remove, deliver and install furniture.
• Complete minor building improvements.
• Prepare rooms before and after meetings and events.
• Clean common room areas.
• When applicable, place safety hazard signs in the building including wet paint and wet floor warning signs.
• Monitor, clean and service restrooms.
• Respond to any major spills or other cleaning emergencies.
• Remove trash from common rooms.
• Stock and order supplies required for building cleaning and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in a similar role
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds continuously throughout an 8-10 hour shift
• Night and weekend availability.
• Flexibility to accommodate a varying schedule.
• Detail oriented and accurate.
• Good teamwork skills, initiative and dependability.
• An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on telephone, and to understand and follow instructions.
