Purpose for the Position:  The George Fox Adult Degree Program (ADP) Admissions Office is seeking a customer focused, sales oriented, and values driven Admissions Counselor to temporarily join our highly successful Admissions Team. In this position, you will have the opportunity to greatly impact the admissions experience for prospective students who are entering our Adult Degree programs.

 

You will promote the values and strengths of George Fox's ADP programs to potential students, building on a solid understanding of their goals and priorities in the market place.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies for the Adult Degree Program to include correspondence, presentations, interviews, information meetings, community college connections and follow-up strategies.
  • Represent the University as an exhibitor at career fairs, professional conferences and trade shows. Travel as necessary on behalf of the university to foster community, business and educational connections.
  • Provide input for marketing efforts including publications, advertising and web site information.
  • Maintain contact and student information in the database. Generate lists and reports as needed for recruitment purposes.
  • Evaluate and articulate transfer of academic credit from other colleges for current and prospective students. Ability to understand and administer curricular requirements.
  • Administer curricular requirements and advise students regarding requirements remaining for admission; review and evaluate application credentials to determine student admissibility.
  • Provide academic advising for approximately 100-150 adult degree students regularly regarding remaining hours needed for completion of their degrees and alternative scenarios to accomplish completion; deliver professional/academic advising to assist students in setting and achieving personal and educational goals.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal advisory role.
  • Awareness, respect and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, ethnicity, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc.

 

Associated Duties:

  • Prepare travel budget proposals, track expenditures and submit appropriate paperwork.
  • Other duties as needed.

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience in sales or recruitment in a customer-focused environment required, preferably in a college setting providing student support services with a focus on retention and graduation. Experience in counseling, student support, adult education or related fields also helpful; experience working with college students from diverse backgrounds also preferred.
  • Proficiency with technology and data entry/processing.
  • Customer service orientation required as well as interest in being a strong student advocate.
  • Coaching/advising experience'demonstrated ability to assist people with setting and achieving goals.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills and detail orientation required as well as a high level of initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member as well as independently to accomplish organizational and unit goals.
  • Availability and willingness to travel and work some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in English and to communicate with the public and campus community in a helpful and courteous manner; ability to obtain and use information with tact and discretion;
  • An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's goals, including signed agreement with GFU Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement and being in living agreement with same.
