Security Officer

Job Purpose:

Campus Public Safety at George Fox University is under the director of campus public safety. The program is designed proactively, responding with visibility, education, prevention, and immediate response to university incidents. The primary responsibility of Campus Public Safety is to protect our University community by providing general assistance to students, visitors, employees, and others doing business or associated with the university; and safeguard the vehicles, buildings, and property on campus.

Job Summary:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Campus Public Safety. This position is responsible for Professional Security protection, safeguarding, safety, and security of students, staff, faculty, guests, and property of George Fox University. Perform all appropriate related and unrelated duties, as directed. This is a physical security position.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Must meet the physical requirements of the job
• Performing security patrols by vehicle, bicycle, and/or on foot. Be the presence on campus to deter criminal behavior and to build a relationship of trust with all members and guests of the GFU community.
• Control the access to property and buildings on GFU.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in written form; required documentation by writing reports.
• Work effectively with Newberg Police and Fire Departments.
• Neutralize situations calmly with tact and common sense

Associated Responsibilities:

• Monitor video cameras when in office.
• PR with students and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of experience required
• Full time position Monday-Friday 7am-3pm
